Another quick note. Starting with MS SQL 2016 SSMS is no longer including in the installer. It is a separate download from Download SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)[^]

For a home class you say? And you don't know the basics of installing SQL Server?

OK.

You can install any edition you want on the server. It really doesn't matter as far as the "class" is concerned. The only thing it matters to is your wallet.

What you install on the clients depends on what you're teaching. Usually, you don't have to install anything at all. Well, except for the Management Studio if you're teaching SQL Server administration.

Well, you need to start by defining in precise terms what the class is going to cover. Without that, you can't tailor an installation to support that syllabus.
