I need some help to do the work. I'm assigned to develop a software to control the machine connected to USB port (Some machines is using serial port also). As a new one to this type, I need help to start the work.....

Solution 1

You should start studying the documentation of the machines.
For both kind of them you need to know the transmission protocol.
Moreover, the ones connected to the USB port probably provide client (PC side) libraries.

It depend on your USB card and its API.
You need to read your USB card document.
clarifies your exact functionality.
