I cannot find a workable link for version of this sample DB later than 2005.

I need 2016.

What I have tried:

Searching the Interwebs.

Cannot find recent workable link.

BTW the link to the actual download does not work.
Perhaps before posting links on this site they should be TESTED.
I'm just say'n.

yes, I have visited this link.
As I said in my OP I am looking for a RECENT version that will work with SQL Server 2016. The provided link, and all others I can find, indicate they MIGHT work on 2005 or 2008 but, when I navigate down the rabbit hole to the actual download, it's always for SQL Server 2000.

Since you followed the link, you will have seen where it says:
"AdventureWorks is the current sample database provided for SQL Server products."
"Northwind is a relatively simple SQL Server database that has been used for many years."
What that means is that Northwind hasn't changed since it was introduced with Access back in the nineties, and the version they use now is AdventureWorks.

Silly me!
Since I am following a recent walk through I expected it to use a recent DB. These people have no idea how anal retentive I am.

Than,x O.G.

The "latest version" link in that article takes you to a GitHub repository with a different set of sample databases designed specifically for SQL 2016:
Release Wide World Importers sample database v1.0 · Microsoft/sql-server-samples[^]
Obviously, these won't work with demos that use AdventureWorks or Northwind. :)

On the same repo, there's an updated version of AdventureWorks from last December:
Release AdventureWorks sample databases · Microsoft/sql-server-samples[^]
The notes do say that there have been no significant changes to AdventureWorks since 2012.
