Can somebody explain the need for Web Services? I have read hundreds of Pages on the internet but i still cannot understand the need for Web Services or What they are?

To put it simply:
A web service is a way to exchange data between a client and a server (the web service) using the http protocol.

A protocol is an agreement on how to do this exchange - the http protocol is one such agreement.

Espen, let's say this is reasonable definition (my 5) but I doubt the Inquirer did not see similar lines in "hundreds of Pages on the internet".

("Watching is not enough, one needs to see", as one of my first book on the art of drawing stated.)
