I am developing an application, which has 3 tabs (tab views). Input can be loaded in all the three tabs. Now I would like to add a feature , so that a user can have an option to save the current session, so that next time, while opening the application, he can have all the inputs loaded in it by default.

Can you guys give me some pointers to start with?

1 solution

Implement a save button that stores all control data into a file.
Think about what to do with controls with no value. Easiest might be to store this state also in the file. This will mean that the file will always have a value for all the controls and there will be no need to store any ID with the control data.

Do you think the number of control will change in the future? If this might happen you have to consider what to do with 'old' files and how they should be loaded.

On application start when the save file is present load the data from the file and place the data in the controls.
Or implement a load button that does the same when the user clicks the button.
