asp.net visual studio 2008

i have a small doubt...i have a html website template so that i brought the template to visual studio 2008.but the thing is how can i use those controls available in asp.net ...do i have to drag and drop on the template or how? bcos without any template we can drag and drop any controls and we can define our code but with template how do i define those click event ant all in template buttons..
