SQL Server 2005 Express instance has the limitation of storing a database that is greater in size than 4 GB i.e. 4 GB is the maximum database size in SQL Server 2005 Express.

There are other important limitations of SQL Server 2005 Express. They are:
Maximum number of processors - 1 physical processor
Maximum number of instances - 16
Maximum RAM - 1GB
