so i had xp for a long time now
and i wanna upgrade it to windows 7
so wen youre installing it, it erases
youre data on the hard disk(drive(its disk in Europe))
so if im gonna installed on my USB would it still erased
my hard disk?

If you *upgrade* instead of installing (it will give you the choice when you boot the Win7 DVD), it won't erase your data, but it will take a significant amount of time to apply the upgrade. Depending on your system, it could take anywhere from 2-24 hours to upgrade.

The installation will wipe out whatever drive you install it to.
It won't touch other drives at all.

Uhhh John, there is no upgrading from Window XP to Win7. There is a migration, but upgrade isn't possible.

Migrating is moving the data and settings to a safe location, wiping the drive, installing 7, then restoring data and settings.
