Hi I have Visual studio 2008 professional edition but it does not have a template for ado.net entity data model. I have tried downloading a separate file for Ado.net entity framework 3.5 but it failed to complete the installation because it was for a beta version. Please can anyone help me out on this.

There may be various issues for that. Please check the following.

Quote:
1.Make sure Framework 3.5 sp1 is installed first
2.Make sure Visual Studio 2008 sp1 is installed
3.Makes sure the project targets the 3.5 framework
4.A data model is added to an existing project, not a separate project type

I think that should be the problem because I have
1. Microsoft.NET Compact Framework 3.5 and
2. Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Professional edition - ENU.

Could you help me with links where I can download that Framework 3.5 sp1.

Sure.
The .NET Framework 3.5 SP 1 can be downloaded here and Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 can be downloaded here[^].

Please mark it as answer if it helps you. Thanks.
