Pre-Login handshake SQL 2012 and VS 2012

Got this error "A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the pre-login handshake." when connecting to the server via SQL management studio 2012 and VS 2012. But works when connecting to the same server same login same password via SQL management studio 2008 and VS 2010. The SQL server has TCP/IP enabled and NamedPipes disabled. No SSL installed. Firewall configured and port is enabled. SQL services run under network service. Any ideas?

Solution 2

The firewall settings in the DB server needs to have domain checked.
