Hi, I am new to asp.net and a little confused about the microsoft webmatrix and asp.net development. Whats the difference between using visual studio and using webmatrix for asp.net development? What can VS do that matrix cant? Is webmatrix an IDE like VS? Whats the normal approach for asp.net development that most developers use?

The question about "difference" is incorrect in principle. After all, if you want to understand what is it, why not just looking at some available overviews? Everything is very clearly explained. Here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Webmatrix[^],
http://www.microsoft.com/web/webmatrix/[^].

Why is it incorrect (in principle)? The links just introduce webmatrix, not the asp.net development approach. My question is about understanding the relationship between 3 things: asp.net, webmatrix and VS.

If you don't see it, please tell us what's the difference between apple and Apple? Between "Titanic" and "navigation"...
You will understand relationships if you learn a bit of all. There are no other way. And the links clearly explains things. Do you need links to ASP.NET and VS? :-)
