unable to download Filename containing & symbol

Hi
I have an MVC Application. I have a Model object which holds File Name and Path on the server.

In some for loop (to display files in table) i am binding anchor( tag's) href property dynamically as

HTML

<td>
   <a href = "@item.Path"> @item.Name </a>
</td>

This works perfectly until any of my file names contain symbols like '&' for example.

Before when i have faced same issue in passing text which contains '&' as query string. i have fixed it through encodeURIComponent in javascript.

But i am unable to do the same thing for Files, Please suggest.

Actual, you can use @Html.Raw(item.Path) in MVC to get it to render without encoding.

You need to render the filename correctly, & is the first character of encoding for various chars. Replace it with & amp; ( without the space ).

doesn't that change the file name? and i may get file not found error?

No, it tells the browser how to render the text you want
