By component, do you mean a dll? Right click on the project, add reference and select your dll. It will get added to your project.

What is it that you want to add ? VC6 has been out of date for a long, long time. All that stuff changed in VS2002. Do you mean adding methods to classes ? You should just do that by hand. Do you mean the form designer ? That did change totally, and you'd be best to search the web for a tutorial on how it's changed. Do you mean adding a reference to a COM library ? I'd expect you right click on references and choose 'add reference', at least, that's how it works in c#.
