Is it possible for software/hardware to "hear" a certain sound and then perform an action (text alert) ? The prototype I am trying to develop is a little more detailed than this, but the description I gave here is simplified in order trouble shoot a solution for it. Thanks.

What I have tried:

I have tried many many exhaustive Google searches, I have tried and assortment of "Audio Triggering" software, I have researched devices for the deaf, alarm systems, etc...
