I have a problem with perfomance when reading data in sql.
Most probably because there are alot of records in the database.
Is there any way of improving the speed/performance when reading the data???

Reading or writing in MS.SQLServer fully depends on database's structure. there is not much you can do about the performance otherwise.

so, my suggestion, read a bit about database structure optimizing and redecorate your database! (if it is possible. sometimes, database is excellent and optimized, so, you just cant do anything about it)

There are many potential sources of performance issues when reading the data, from badly written code through to unoptimised queries. If I were you, I'd use the SQL Profiler to watch the query in action and I'd look to see what the execution plan is for the query. Let the database engine tell you what it's having to do - you could be performing a sequential scan instead of an indexed read for instance.
