Not sure if it's the same problem, but I have a PC program with Crystal Reports that I have to compile as a 32 bit machine. When a user tries to install it on a 64 bit machine the installer saw that it was a 64 bit machine and installed the 64 bit version of Crystal Reports. However, since my program is compiled at 32 bit it will always look for the 32 bit version of Crystal Reports. I had to create a custom prerequisite that would always install the 32 bit version of Crystal, regardless of what the computer was. I did so by using these instructions:

Solution 2

Configure Projects to Target Platforms 64 bit. and must use to client runtime application: CRRuntime_64bit
