It looks like you want to create an application based on NotifyIcon; with Forms, this is System.Windows.Forms.NotifyIcon: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.forms.notifyicon.aspx[^].

There's no such thing as a "tray application". It's just a normal app that displays an icon in the tray. Nothing special.
