What kind of hosting does webmatrix project need?

Hi! I have built an asp.net webpages site using webmatrix. But now that I published it I saw that's not working. I am sure that my windows host supports asp.net. Do webmatrix websites need special hosting? What kind of? What is the easiest solution to get rid of this disappointing situation? Do I have to convert my site to some other type now in order to be compatible?

I cant pay for a new host. Im looking for a way to use my host (some kind of configuration) if there is.

Solution 1

The minimum suggested requirements for WebMatrix hosting are Windows Server 2008 R2, IIS 7, and both ASP.NET 4.0 and 3.5 available (How to config the host for webmatrix?[^]), but in my experience Windows Server 2008 is enough.

The Windows is 64-bit Windows Server 2008 enterprise edition. (not R2) Now this means that I cant configure it?

I hosted WebMatrix sites on Windows Server 2008 following with success the instructions in http://www.iis.net/learn/web-hosting/joining-the-web-hosting-gallery/install-server-components.

Did your sites include databases? Did you have any problems with them? I have a sql CE one in my app. And by the way the cshtml files seems not to be recognized by the host as a supporting file type. (Did you have the same problem?)

My sites use both SQL CE and SQL Server 2008 Express.
After installing Web Server Components I haven't experienced any problem.
