Ajax tool control kit does support webapi or not

Hi Team,

I am Unsure this is a right Question.

I have been using AjaxToolControl Kit and implemented the features
of CalenderExtender,ModelPopup Extender, Auto Complete Extender etc..

In Particular for Autocomplete we use Web Service Web Method to make a get Call from server and loads the data in the box.

I want to know can we call REST API instead of Web Service here.

Please Clarify on this.

What I have tried:

I have checked in the AjaxToolControlKit Document and it mentioned service method can be called via webservice
