I am trying to use methods in my web service and when I try to do so it return this error:

2013/02/04 08:23:09 AM ==> Unable to connect to the remote server System.Net.Sockets.SocketException (0x80004005): A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond
at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.DoConnect(EndPoint endPointSnapshot, SocketAddress socketAddress)
at System.Net.ServicePoint.ConnectSocketInternal(Boolean connectFailure, Socket s4, Socket s6, Socket& socket, IPAddress& address, ConnectSocketState state, IAsyncResult asyncResult, Int32 timeout, Exception& exception)

in my web service.

I checked that my firewall and anti-virus is disabled and that I can visit the site through my browser.

Please help ?

all methods in my web service returns a string.
so I call the method like this:
string Message = Stock("ItemCode","ItemName","Quantity");

and after that it goes directly into my catch.

Solution 1

If its a external site you do not have specify the port number in your URL. It works fine now.
