Loading into div not working in IE8

Hi,
I have written a code to load an external page into a div thats working fine in Firefox but not in IE8. Pls help me to solve this.

       $.get('msg.php',{},function(data){
	  setInterval(function()
   {
     $('#chatbox').load('msg.php',data);
   }, 0.5);
          
       });
	  
   });

its not displaying anything in my div chatbox
