i am using Visual studio web developer 4.0, in which i doing a web application. And i hosted my website in my local IIS. My problem is while i am opening the website from visual studio some alter message is coming like

ASP.NET 4.0 has not been registered on the webserver. You need to manually configure your web server for 4.0 in order for your site to run correctly...

An then when i am trying to debugg website bellow error i am getting

Unable to start debugging on the server. Could not start debugging. More information my available by starting the project without debugging.

Then i browsed my startup page without debugging then the error in browser is

The page you are requesting cannot be served because of the extension configuration. If the page is a script, add a handler. If the file should be downloaded, add a MIME map.

i tried many things like registering with aspnet_regiis -1, and searched a lot bt not working. and i m using windows 8.

Pls help.

Solution 1

If you want to debug then make sure your web.config file contain the value like
<compilation debug="true">

Please check your application pool and under which framework it is running. If .NET framework v2.0 found you changed it .NET framework v4.0.

If problem not solved then one suggestion, you can repair your .NET framework v 4.0 then iis register with aspnet_regiis command.
