Getting Error in RSA cryptography with SHA256

I am getting below exception when calling signdata()

 Dim csp As RSACryptoServiceProvider = TryCast(cert.PrivateKey, RSACryptoServiceProvider)
Dim buffer As Byte() = Encoding.[Default].GetBytes(strinput)
 Dim strid As String = CryptoConfig.MapNameToOID("SHA256")
'create signature with input byte data using algorithm
 Dim signature As Byte() = csp.SignData(buffer, strid)

Exception as===

System.Security.Cryptography.CryptographicException: Invalid algorithm specified.

at System.Security.Cryptography.CryptographicException.ThrowCryptogaphicException(Int32 hr)
at System.Security.Cryptography.Utils._SignValue(SafeKeyHandle hKey, Int32 keyNumber, Int32 calgKey, Int32 calgHash, Byte[] hash, Int32 dwFlags)
