Has anyone out there had a sudden problem with the VB6IDEMOUSEWHEELADDIN.DLL not loading when you start the VB6 IDE?

The IDE throws an error saying the add-in can't be loaded and offers to remove it.

I have experienced this on 3 boxes so far, 1 running XP, 1 running Win 7 32-bit, 1 running Win 7 64-bit.

It happened suddenly last week, July 10 or 11.

The dll is properly registered. When you try to re-register it the process fails with a code that seems to mean a rights violation although nobody on any forum I've checks seems to know why that error is thrown when you are running cmd as an administrator.

System Restore had no effect.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

I can understand why it might happen on Win 7 ... the IDE will still work on XP but my understanding is that it's not supported on Win7 (you might keep it working using WOW and 32-bit but 64-bit you're probably pushing your luck!). Is this a networked PC at work, where the "desktop boys" might have patched the OS?

I'm sure it was caused by a patch but nobody knows which one and "policy" insists that all patches be applied.
