Hi All,

I am using a Visual Studio 2012 Express and i have installed ViusalSVN Server on my machine. I am unable to add the solution. When i try to add by right clicking the solution and Add solution to source control it gives me an error tf21003, but i dont see an option to add SVN.

Can any one help me.

Wow... you are kidding me right?

I tried this but while installing the checkbox for Visual Studio 2012 is disabled...

The chances are that this will not work as you are using the Express (free) edition, which does not include all the features of the purchased versions.

I believe so... thanks Richard...

1 solution

The Express versions of Visual Studio do not allow 3rd party plugins and extensions, so you can only use TortoiseSVN from windows explorer.

+5, that's why they are called the "Express" editions.

Sad but true, thanks Ron!

Good idea, a 5.

I need to correct you: not just for Explorer: it will work for any file manager using Shell API in a standard way. (I know a number of developers never using Explorer, because it's a lame; I'm one of them.)

Also, not using VS integration and using something else like Tortoise has some considerable benefits. I would advise anyone avoiding integration of this kind. It would keep SVN operation non-intrusive. It's really have nothing to do with any IDE, works just on set of files. Binding create additional mess in solutions and projects.

I love the Tortoise line, especially TortoiseGit which is really great.
Personally I like my source control outside of the IDE.

Than we agree on that.
