So I'm building a website that has multiple subdomains, however I want to make it so that if a users logs in they'll be automatically logged in across the entire site (all subdomains), now I've done some research and seen that there is a way to do this using .htaccess, and by php.ini, however here's the issue. I'm using IIS 7.5. I have Helicon Ape installed, and I've attempted to put this in the .htaccess file, and still nothing. I've also attempted to enable in the php file for IIS, the custom php ini file per user, that also does not work.

Can anyone assist me in maybe finding a way without setting the entire server (as the website has multiple domains that all use sessions, and I don't want to mess those up too, also I've tried that and that didn't seem to do anything either).

I'm starting to get really frustrated, however I need this functionality.

HELP!!!!

I'm not looking for an SSO or Single Sign On (for example one username and password for different applications, ie PHPBB, Wordpress), I am looking to pass the session along via all the sub domains. It's one application, and the users have 1 username and password, I just want the session across all sub domains. The system is built using a Smarty Templates Framework.
