hyperterminal disconnects automatically

I m using a machine which sends data to computer using rs232 port and the data received in hyper terminal. when i connect the machine it works but after some time it stops sending data when i disconnect and then reconnect the hyper terminal it says the port is using by other telephony device.when i switch the cable to another port and change the setting in hyper terminal (com port)
then it works properly but after some time the same problem.
Please help me and provide me some permanent solution.

Check the motherboard startup CMOS/BIOS affair (what is it, F2 on powerup/before windows posts ...?). Anyway, the board can be configured to automatically do a slew of weird things. If this behavior is brand new, as in you've only just begun encountering it, and you haven't flashed the BIOS recently ... then perhaps you're sunk.
