Anyone had that experience of playing a game so often that when you lie in bed at night trying to get to sleep all you can think about is the game? I remember I got to a point with Quake where I was even dreaming about Capture the Flag games I'd just played. Very scary
Oh yes... There was a stage in my life where I was playing games about 12 to 18 hours per day. I would buy the latest game, hole up in my office and secretly play the game during office hours, then as night fell I would pop out for a quick burger then be back in the office "Working", sometimes until 3am, then I would fall into a fitful sleep, dreaming about the game, getting up with my mouth feeling like the proverbial cocky cage and I couldn't wait to get back in and start playing the game again - it was lucky I owned the business - Jeez, the time I wasted in those days.
Lucky these days I have a family to support and can't afford any time to play games.
I think we all have: it happens for the first few days after you buy a new house and get a new mortgage to pay for it!
[Less] Seriously I went through a phase if being heavily into simulation games (SimCity and SimTower etc), although I loved Acorn's Revs in my A level years, and I bought one recently with all the old excitement. It's still sitting on the shelf boxed, dusty, what happened on the way home?!
Yes it happen in our office also, we play Starcraft/half-line during lunch hours. Even after working hours, we start the game sharp...But this only just hot for few months only, after that everybody back to normal life.
I once played Baldur's Gate 18 hours / day, untill I wanted to use the space bar in real life. I didn't understand what a person was saying to me, and I wanted to pause for a moment. After that, I drasticly reduced gaming..
I know what you mean, but for me the computer is really more like a toy when I'm at home. I guess it's because these days I'm not putting any extra hours at work so when I get home I'm not tired of it. On 12-hour work days though, I feel just like you
Correct. I will play a good game.
I am a 'builder' person, and anything that lets you build instead of flying/driving/walking/teleporting/<you name it> all over the place blowing things up is appealing to me.
So my all time favorites have been (and I might forget some) and some still are:
Railroad Tycoon (The original DOS version...)
Civilization (Any version... even the DOS one...)
SimCity (Any version... even the DOS one...)
Railroad Tycoon II
Civilization : A Call To Power
Civilization II : A Test of Time
I am somewhat looking forward to Tropico from PopTop.
I have not tried The Sims, though I might some day.
Now, since I started dating (women, also one of my favorite games of all time...) I have not played a computer game in about 4 months. Of course, it gos without saying, the women take up more time than the computer games EVER did...
I guess what with starting to date, maybe The Sims will seem like old hat...we will see...
