... until then my 2013 new years resolution will be the same as my 2012, 2011, and 2010 resolutions, 4960x1600[^]
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason? Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful? --Zachris Topelius
Training a telescope on one’s own belly button will only reveal lint. You like that? You go right on staring at it. I prefer looking at galaxies. -- Sarah Hoyt
Why can't I be applicable like John? - Me, April 2011 ----- Beidh ceol, caint agus craic againn - Seán Bán Breathnach ----- Da mihi sis crustum Etruscum cum omnibus in eo! ----- Just because a thing is new don’t mean that it’s better - Will Rogers, September 4, 1932
I don't believe in using Jan 1 each year as a reason to right a wrong. In any month, any day, any hour, if I've had enough, I'll say "That does it" and from that moment on I right the wrong - or - If it is something I want to do I just do it no matter what time of year it is.
It is self limiting to wait on a tradition to do it, whatever it is.
So we can expect more churn in the applications being used to run businesses.
Once upon a time we had dumb terminals talking to a central computer.
Then came the PC and would have expected a more even distribution of tasks between the PC and the central computer.
Instead, the PC has been dumbed down to run one program, the browser, and all applications have reverted back to being dumb.
But it has been a good ride for consultants, who spring up kudzu-like and made money telling management why they should use client-server and why they should use the browser model, and then why PHP, Java, Python, etc., etc., etc.
In the meanwhile nobody actually cared about understanding what might be the fundamental issues and how to go about solving them.
Go right ahead and learn new technologies.
And tell the local convenience store why they need Hadoop, Big Data, etc.
I for one am glad that I don't have to deal any more with management idiots, programmer robots and consultant leeches.
Happy New Year to you all and may the New Year bring a sh*t-load of New Technologies for you all to happily wallow in.
If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about? Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you Rating helpfull answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.
