There should have been an "It varies" option.
I'm definitely more pedantic with topics I have some knowledge of.
but... understanding the needs of women? forget it.
I have no time for self improvement.

who answered: "I'm loose and obtruse". Isn't that really pedant??
Seulement, dans certains cas, n'est-ce pas, on n'entend guère que ce qu'on désire entendre et ce qui vous arrange le mieux... [^]
Joe never complained of anything but ever did his duty in his way of life, with a strong hand, a quiet tongue, and a gentle heart [^]

I think all Pedants should be castrated. That would make them think twice about going near children again

I can't tell if you're trolling badly or just stupid.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Training a telescope on one’s own belly button will only reveal lint. You like that? You go right on staring at it. I prefer looking at galaxies.

When asking a bunch of pedantic anals, it is best to get the wording right. Just saying.

It could be a deliberate mistake to catch people like us out

What's the difference between "Yes, I am a pedant" and "Yes, I'm more pedantic than the average person"?
That seems quite imprecise to me.

You need the top one
“Education is not the piling on of learning, information, data, facts, skills, or abilities - that's training or instruction - but is rather making visible what is hidden as a seed” “One of the greatest problems of our time is that many are schooled but few are educated”
Sir Thomas More (1478 – 1535)

Pedantic: overly concerned with minute details or formalisms...
What makes for an exceptional programmer is flexibility rather than rigid adherence to detail and formalisms.

Sometimes I like to examine the options in detail, then choose and stick precisely to a detailed procedure most applicable to the project at hand. Does that make me flexible or pedantic?

Let's see...flexibly pedantic...pedantically flexible...

You need a "Missing Option" option. You always need a missing option option.
“Education is not the piling on of learning, information, data, facts, skills, or abilities - that's training or instruction - but is rather making visible what is hidden as a seed” “One of the greatest problems of our time is that many are schooled but few are educated”

I feel kind of loose, but with "obtruse" not being an actual word (nor its meaning discernable by context), I don't know how to answer the poll

What if I'm a bit illiterate because I only watch Sci-Fi movies, Lord of the Rings, and the Hobbit, and don't know the meaning of the word "pedantic"?

I am definitely a perfectionist when it comes to everything I do. I notice the slightest of flaws in everything related to daily activities. And I'll do what I can to correct them. Doesn't help that I have OCD to an extent.

My poor kids... haha
I tell them sometimes that before they mutter a word I can tell when they are about to tell me a fib about something based on their body motions and expressions. The bonus is that I also tend to analyze what users say as well.

...but there's a special place in hell for comma cops.
I once had to sit through a code review that largely consisted of looking at compares of minor grammar corrections and misspellings in the comments.
It was broke, so I fixed it.

That would be a loose vote, don't you think?
Never underestimate the difference you can make in the lives of others.

Judging yourself on how you relate to others is usually not a good judgment.
Although my position towards others is usually the one I like to have back.
This means that when I don't know something I like others to explain it to me without slamming "ignorant" in my face.
The other way around is always true for me. I'm always available to help or explain whatever.
The only thing I really don't like is explaining the very same thing to the same person more than once.
I can take whatever time is needed to answer all the questions, but just try not to ask me to explain the whole damn thing again next time ok?!
