a subset of "Dark mode for certain apps, Light mode for others"?
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

because of better contrast and so the preferred mode when getting older. And this belongs to everyone

I am already older.
Light mode has too much glare. When using 3 screens side-by-side, there is too much white in the peripheral vision, which is distracting.
Nothing succeeds like a budgie without teeth.

Yeah, when are people going to realise that the "[X] MODE IS EASIER TO READ!" argument is flawed because sometimes light is easier and sometimes dark is easier depending on the person
Just let lighties stay light and darkies stay dark without having a go at each other, mmmkay.

If you say that getting the money
is the most important thing
You will spend your life
completely wasting your time
You will be doing things
you don't like doing
In order to go on living
That is, to go on doing things
you don't like doing
Which is stupid.

We still haven't settled questions like vi vs emacs, little-endian vs big-endian, etc. What makes you think that dark vs light will be settled anytime soon?
Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.

yeah, but those are easy to answer: vi rocks, emacs sucks and it doesn't matter if you have a big end

Doing this and tracking who uses it would give you a real clue to the answers to this survey.

Dark mode is harder to read, and a lot less "normal" - I grew up with printed books, and black on white is always readable!

This is a very subjective topic, that might feel totally different for each person.
I have read (and still read) a lot of paper books, but I prefer black on light beige instead of black on pure white.
And for sometimes is dark mode more pleasant / relaxing for me at PC.

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you
Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

I use ebffdd as the background color of all my editors. Very pale green. Less harsh than straight white but pale enough for easy reading.
I’ve given up trying to be calm. However, I am open to feeling slightly less agitated.
