I left a company a few years ago and have been brought back as a contractor a few times to add some modifications to existing code. So Visual C/C++ 1.52 is technically still on my list. I do not have anything above 2003, but I still have QuickC around here some place.

How about the .NET Command Prompt which opens up more power unrestricted for those who want do delve into the details and play with the various command line switches? A few of the csc switches, I am sure are not exposed and supported within the context of IDE right?
I have VS2003, VC# 2005 Express and VS 2008 Beta 2 installed on a Vista HOme Premium laptop. Vista gave an initial warning about the issues that it has with VS2003, but I have been running it under the administrator setting and it has been behaving itself sofar.
