Finally got power in Freehold, New Jersey after Hurricane Sandy. My place in Sea Bright may still be standing, but I can't say the same for my neighbors. Sea Bright was devastated.
Sandy dumped SIX FEET of sand over the whole town, and damaged just about every building. Good portions of my town simply don't exist anymore.
They are going to let us in on Tuesday to grab some belongings, but it might be another week before the town is safe enough to open for regular access.
The difficult we do right away...
...the impossible takes slightly longer.

Been hangin' waiting for you to say you're OK. Thank whatever deity/ies.
Saw some news pix and before/after aerial shots. Not pretty.
All the best to you and yours with the recovery.
Just remember, it's going to take a long time, and some things will NEVER be the way they were.
Cheers,

I live in southern MS and remember what it was like immediately after Katrina. I hope all goes well for you. It's tough to put things back together.

Be safe, and never give up hope for the future.
Dale Carnegie (1888-1955) “Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.”
I think computer viruses should count as life. I think it says something about human nature that the only form of life we have created so far is purely destructive. We've created life in our own image.

Is this true:
I read in the paper, that the unions in New Jersey were not allowing non-unionized workers from other states, to help you guys out. The story also said that New Jersey would have had their power back a lot sooner if this did not happen.

Welcome back! I hope your town gets cleaned up and fixed quickly.
Perhaps they need to start considering hurricane-resilient building regulations all up the east coast, like they have earthquake regulations along the western fault zones.

Used to drive through Sea Bright during hurricane season just to watch the waves coming over the wall.
Not terribly smart, but teenagers...what are you gonna do?
