So I am having a look at some IDEs for linux, to (hopefully) create a little GUI app to test a driver I have written.

I tried Geany; hasn't got UI capabilities. Ajunta; that has, but it doesnt work. You cant link the button click action to a handler and it didnt create the callbacks.c file like it is supposed to. The help file says don't forget to click the Add button. There isn't an Add button.

So I tried kdevelop4. It even has a tutorial for kdevelop4 on youtube! However said tutorial doesnt look like the kdevelop4 I installed, and it cant even build a basic project, so I abandoned that one too.

So 6 hours later I am back to Geany and creating a console app to test the driver.

I know these are free, and the power of linux to install software on the fly without rebooting and so on is highly impressive. If only the software you got was as impressive. Really, I was hoping for a decent MFC type IDE, but what is available sucks.
