Hey I wanted to find out if it is necessary to use renderscript for image processing apps on android. I'am coding an android panoramic view creator for creating 360 degree high quality panoramas but I had written the initial code in C++, but for android I have to use java and I have read about android phones not being so powerful because of their use of the virtual machine. So I was thinking of using renderscript for the android apps, is it necessary or just normal java code can do for such a task as panorama creation?

Hi world, i am using this code to get info from my sql server 2008. this is working well in "Debug" mode but cannot run app in mobile(only release work for mobile) SO when i wanna to (Release mode) release it (.apk) and send to my samsung android mobile ,and when i run the app and click on button i get error :

The <mandroidi18n> entry goes into the .csproj, not AndroidManifest.xml.
This can also be set in the IDE.

Within Visual Studio:
Click Project > Project Name Properties. In the Application tab, look in the Application properties > Additional supported encodings section (it's on the right). Click the checkbox next to West.
I don't think you will be able to use MessageBox on Mono Android. MessageBox class is part of System.Windows.Forms package and is not available on Mono for Android. Instead please have a look at AlertDialog Sample[^].

I want to send code to the mobile label printer via mobile application. I have to do this with TCP connection. While tcp connection and printing is OK with the windows desktop application, It just does nothing with the mobile application. Once I click the connect button it connects to the printer and sends the text without problem but the printer does not respond!
Appreciate any suggestion

I'm venturing in to mobile development, finally, and am targeting Android first as I have a Galaxy S3. I've started with Eclipse but it is a bit clunky and am more comfortable with VS. My question is; since I want to eventually port my app to iOS, is the Xamarin suite of apps worth the cost in the end? I'm using the Mono for Android trial at the moment and a personal license costs $399. A bit steep but it is easier to develop in C# with the (hopefully) easier migration to iOS in the future. I'm using the VS 2012 templates that are installed when I installed the development kit. The documentation is a bit lacking but there are many samples and the community seems well established. So bottom line is would you recommend Java and the Eclipse route or C# with Mono?
If you're starting a new app... go with Java/Eclipse... You don't know whether Mono will keep getting supported in that platform (since it's not exactly a "native" language) so you might as well start out with what most of the other apps are already written in, Java.
