This time the European Commission has its sites on Microsoft.
The European Commission is investigating whether Windows 2000 will give Microsoft an unfair advantage over it's competitors. The investigation has been triggered by a complaints from consumers, competitors and small businesses.
The commission is investigating whether Microsoft deliberately designed its new operating system in a way that will permit it to leverage its dominance in personal computer operating systems to other markets.
Microsoft stated that it did not bundle the server software with systems that ran version for desktop computers, and further stated that Windows 2000 could be used alongside competing products.
