Can someone please give me step by step help on installing Visual Studio on Linux(Mandriva). I'm kind of new with Linux and will appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance!

Never tried but information is very interesting. My 5.
Taking into account you can use Mono and build Windows applications for Windows .NET, they will run on Linux without recompilation... One can develop, say, Forms applications (which are evil, of course, but...), as MonoDevelop does not have Designer for Forms...

I think you would be much better off with MonoDevelop, see http://en.wiyipedia.org/wiki/MonoDevelop[^].
