Hi there,

I am running into this one particular problem. I have a site which uses frames that are loaded on each tab change. When I try to navigate from a frame to another page using left NavPane, it shows up the following error (this is occuring only in chorme and firefox but not in IE).

Request URL Too Long

HTTP Error 414. The request URL is too long.

Can someone please direct me?

Not enough information. I tried spying on your network to capture the request and see what is in it and why it is too long, but, probably due to the summer vacation period, my agents complained that the access they gained was too limited to get the comprehensive data for me. :-)

Does it say what the URL is (it would be in the error message, not in the address bar)?

That's odd. It depends on the version of IE. But I believe IE8 and previous had allowed much shorter URLs than firefox and chrome so I would have expected the opposite to happen. Why is the URL so long though?

There are some limits on the maximum length of a URL, and these limits are browser-specific. For more details see e.g. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/417142/what-is-the-maximum-length-of-a-url[^] and http://www.boutell.com/newfaq/misc/urllength.html[^].
