Please, I need help with this SDES encrypting and deencrypting scheme.

I got this ecncryption code from the net. Since I generally use unicode, i wish to re-write it for 16 bit character. I just don't understand how the values of variables P10[10] and P8[8] where gotten. Do they follow a particular sequence or they are randomly generated.
What do I do to make it work for wide char type?
