Easy, if they don't install the .NET framework the application doesn't work. So if they want it to work they must download the .NET Framework.

23Mb these days is not a lot for a download. Most JVMs are of a similar size.

My answer was was serious. I suggest you just didn't like it and don't want to accept it.
Remember that the .NET Framework only has to be installed once for all .NET applications on the machine so if they already have it then they don't need to download it again.

as colin replied, there is no nonsense in installing the framework if your program was coded in a .NET language.
do you only know what you do when you compile and when you execute a .NET language ?
if you didn't want so much task to do for your customer, you had to do it in MFC or Win32 or VB6 for example...

so the user need to install the framework .NET also if he has windows XP or just for the others older WINDOWS 32 OS?
|
|
|
|
|
no, of course he does need to install something that is already installed...
in fact, you will have to test into your installer if the framework already exist, and if not, propose to install it...

No, Currently only Windows Sever 2003 ships with the .NET Framework.

If I remember correctly, if you built your installer using a setup project in Visual Studio then it tests for you because it is set with the details of the components required.

Hello
I have created an application (ASP.NET) using MS Access as the database and have been asked to now create an MS SQL version. Everything is okay except for the Boolean fields. MS SQL does not have a Boolean data type (they are converted to a type of Bit). Also a true value is -1 in Access and 1 in MS SQL.
I don't want to have to maintain two separate pieces of code.
Does anyone know of a way to either code so that both databases will accept the same instructions OR is there a way to determine which backend database is being used. I am using a DSN for the connection.
Regards,
James

If you write a DAL (Data Abstraction Layer) you can create a defined interface to it and then have one Assembly for the Access and one assembly for SQL Server. Then all you need to do in your code is take a value, which you create, from the application's config file that tells you which DAL to use. The DAL is constructed and you communicate with it through the interface (or abstract base class, if that is your preference). The DAL contains all the database interaction code.
Of course, this solution is best if you already have a well defined DAL and just want to extend it to use different back-end databases.
