If the measures suggested before do not fix the problem, have an electrician measure your mains. The problems might be related to brownouts or other voltage or waveform problems.
If you don't want to pay an electrician, try to rent a dual-conversion UPS (or maybe another true-online UPS design) and see if the problem persists.
Other than that, check your hardware for signs of failure (blown capacitors, cracks, visible tension on PCBs).
Cheers,
Sebastian

Hi..
I have the MCP certificate in developing asp.net using visual C#.In my university I studied the Java as an object oriented language only(without learning how to make business project that could be needed by a company).I have a desire to learn USB port programming and mobile programming.
May you learn me how to find trusted training centers for each of the fields I mentioned above so I can reach the second level in these fields.
I am too late but i will never give up

How many times are you going to ask this question?? It will just get you ignored.
Microsoft doesn't offer any courses on USB driver development. This kernel level drivers are something you're going to have to learn on your own or through a third party.
All you have to do is Google for "windows driver development course".

Maybe we should start a Google For Oil program where they send over a couple million barrels of crude in exchange for the secret google URL.

Either:
a) Open the computer and see which kind of bus it has
or:
b) See the specs[^] for the board on Intel's WWW site
|
|
|

|
Pour water onto the motherboard and note the color of the sparks. red=AGP, blue (and sometimes green) = PCIe.

hi,
the registry is full with this kind of infos ..
Furthermore, there's some APIs that give handy details on some hardware ( hard drive, ..)
|
|
|
|
|
There are some APIs that can may be help you :
//////////// APIs ////////////////////
Disks:
GetDiskFreeSpaceEx Retrieves information about the specified disk, including the amount of free space on the disk.
...
Monitors :
GetMonitorInfo Retrieves information about a display monitor.
...
Power Management:
CallNtPowerInformation Sets or retrieves power information.
GetCurrentPowerPolicies Retrieves the current system power policy settings.
GetDevicePowerState Retrieves the current power state of the specified device.
GetPwrCapabilities Retrieves information about the system power capabilities.
GetPwrDiskSpindownRange Retrieves the disk spindown range.
...
GetSystemPowerStatus Retrieves the power status of the system.
...
IsSystemResumeAutomatic Indicates the current state of the computer.
PowerReadACValue Retrieves the AC power value for the specified power setting.
...

Concerning the registry these are below some keys and values :
BIOS:
Clé Système: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System]

I hope that these infos can be programmatically helpful.

I forgot to tell you that for the moment I am interested in C/C++ and Visual C++ programming, I am not proficient at C#.

About to purchase a new computer. Thinking of Vista Home Premium.
1. Would you recommend opting for 4GBs of memory?
2. Are there any reasons to go with only 2 GBs?
3. Thinking of going with a Q6600 processor — any comments?
Thanking you in advance for your help and time.

The only thing I would say is if you must have Vista, go for Ultimate, the rest are all handicapped in one way or another. Most people would say go for as much as you can afford on the processor and memory front. It'll be too small and too slow in 3 years whatever you get
Nothing is exactly what it seems but everything with seems can be unpicked.

unless you need domain support and mediacenter ultimate is essentially a ripoff. The only thing it has of potential value to a home user is remote desktop, and unless you're going to be conntrolling it that was on a daily basis, VNC is good enough and available in free incarnations.

You have to explain to them [VB coders] what you mean by "typed". their first response is likely to be something like, "Of course my code is typed. Do you think i magically project it onto the screen with the power of my mind?" --- John Simmons / outlaw programmer

1 - With the amount of memory Vista can use to preload applications into its cache, more memory would definitely be a good thing. People have had good reports with x64 and 4 GB.
2 - No.
3 - The Q6600 is a great processor and the price, at this point in time, is quite decent. If you're about to purchase the computer right away, I don't think you could go wrong with it, but I have heard that big price cuts are expected soon.

Instead of Vista, get Linux.

I am in the process of buying a new dev laptop. I was just looking for suggestions on what brand, model, and what specifications I should look for. I am using VS.net 2005, and I do most of my work in C#. I do alot of work with large data files, and a few huge projects. My current system isn't handling it too well. I am leaning towards dell, but not sure what I should invest in. Anyone have an ideas?
|
|
|
|

Well for one, it depends on what you're going to be using it for. If you're just using it for developing, then I would suggest a:
- Large Hard Drive (200-300GB)
- Fast Processor For Large Projects (Intel Dual-Core Cores are great!)
- Large Monitor (Always helps when developing)
Justin Perez wrote: I am leaning towards dell, but not sure what I should invest in.
Dell is good. I haven't had any problems with them. Not to mention they always have great deals!
Trinity: Neo... nobody has ever done this before.
Neo: That's why it's going to work.

Man, have you gotten lucky!
Out of 4 Dell notebooks, I've had 2 bad motherboards, replaced the keyboard in 1 notebook 3 times, bad batteries (recalled) in 2 notebooks, and a hard drive that died 2 days inside the warranty.

Yeah, the only thing I'd be using this system for would be development. I was thinking of a Dell Inspirion E1505. It's cheap and it looks like it has what i'd need. Here are the processor and memory specs. I think this would suit my needs well. What do you think
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5300 (2MB Cache/1.73GHz/533MHz FSB)
2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHZ, 2 DIMM
Also, I'd get windows vista(unfortunatley). Should I get Vista Buisness?
