So whidbey or dotnet 2 is finally with us. Did we get an invite to the party - No. Did anyone even bother to let us know - No. I am on the notification list of so many organisations it's ridiculous, but I only found out by accident. And is everyone ready for it, well ok if you can afford and have the resources to run Visual Studio then fine, but the rest of us seem to have been left somewhat out in the cold. Corsavy the icSharp project IDE for dotnet 2 isn't even in beta yet. Not that I'm complaining about that, it is an excellent tool and the guys on the project have been working flat out and presumably for relatively little reward given that it's GPL. The thing that I was dissappointed about is webmatrix. This was always an under-supported tool and rather buggy to say the least, but it worked reasonably well up to a point and was better than nothing. As soon as I heard dotnet 2 had been released, I went straight for the webmatrix download site, except there was nothing there, not even a promise of a version 2 compliant upgrade. So here I am all dressed up and nowhere to go. I've got the framework and no tools.
End of Line.
