<p>In order to create a great online conference experience, there are a number of steps to follow:</p>
<ol class="round">
    <li class="one">
        <h3>Register with us</h3>
        Start by choosing a username, and register . You can also register using your Microsoft or Google account so you don't have to remember yet another password.
        <br />
        @Html.ActionLink("Register now", "Register", "Account")
    </li>
    <li class="two">
        <h3>Add your conference</h3>
        Add your conference, along with your presentation and speaker details. Once you're happy, make the conference public so everyone can see it. Your conference will be displayed on the @Html.ActionLink("conference listing page", "All", "Conference", null, new { @class = "no-button" }). You can send out links to your conference using the friendly url of your conference page, just make sure to update them if you change your conference hashtag.
        <br />
        @Html.ActionLink("Add your conference now", "Create", "Conference") | @Html.ActionLink("View other conferences", "All", "Conference")
    </li>

    <li class="three">
        <h3>Get started with Google Hangouts</h3>
        You'll need to use Google Hangouts to record your conference, and update both your conference and individual presentations with links to your hangout as the conference progresses. We display both conference live feeds, and individual presentations, using the embedded features from Google Hangouts / YouTube, allowing viewers to view your conference without having to navigate away.

    </li>

    <li class="four">
        <h3>Get started with Twitter</h3>
        We use an embedded Twitter timeline to host live chat for your conference. If you'd like to enable live chat, you'll need to setup a Twitter widget with your chosen hashtag for your conference. You can then update your conference with the widget id so both speakers and your audience can chat in realtime.

    </li>
    <li class="five">
        <h3>Run your conference</h3>
        Once you've setup your Google Hangout, go to the <i>Edit Conference page</i>, update your conference with the id of your Google Hangout, and start broadcasting. If you break your conference into a separate video for each presentation (recommended), <strong>make sure you keep your conference up-to-date with the current Hangout Id so viewers can continue to view in realtime.</strong> You can also chat with your audience in realtime using the Twitter feed (if you've enabled this).<br />
    </li>
    <li class="six">
        <h3>Update your presentations with YouTube links</h3>
        It is recommended that you break your Google Hangout into multiple videos by starting/stopping broadcasting at the beginning/end of each presentation. As you start broadcasting for each presentation, the hangout id will change in Google Hangouts. As this happens, you can update each presentation with the specific hangout id for that section of the conference. Also make sure to update your conference with the most up-to-date hangout id whilst your conference is underway.
        <br />
    </li>
</ol>

I'm a software developer based in the beautiful city of Wellington, New Zealand. I love experimenting with new .Net technologies as they arrive, and these days there seems to be a lot of choice as there are so many new features in the framework! My current interests are Azure, ASP.Net MVC, SignalR, Knockout, AngularJS, and responsive design (inc. using Bootstrap, Foundation, Skeleton). These change fairly often as I tinker with various new technologies...
