The fact is am creating a school management system. And this aspect is a position system. Where I've already displayed sum total of all marks of student in descending order from the database. So at the next column, I wanted to give them position like 1st,2nd,third in that order.
Meaning the one with the highest total marks will get "1st" in the next column of the same row.
That's it

Please, how do I place a code inside the loop. When I put a line of code for each row, In my software, at some point, I would have 10 or 20 rows and I might create the code for 30 rows which can't be possible.

It's like arranging student's positions, you will give the 1st position to student with the highest total marks, 2nd position for the student with the second highest total marks in that order. So I would like the position to be in the column 2

I want the software to be like the moment you select the class it displays the name,total marks scored in exams and lastly positions.

And I've tried to do all these. But my problem here now is how do I check and see the highest total marks and appoint a position like 1st,2nd,3rd.

Let's say if datagridview's column 1 is having these values

Then on the next column2, I want the program to check for the higher total mark in column 1 and appoint a 1st to the higher mark, 2nd to the next higher mark, 3rd to next higher mark to the last mark. Where I want the 3rd,1st,2nd... display in column 2 but it will be in respective of what is in column 1

What I meant was I've already displayed colum1 from the database. But I want know how to display the grades according to the largest and to the lowest number. Meaning the lowest number will get the "grade D".

As for inserting, am able to do that but my problem is how to create a table which can accumulate as much as five subjects and its scores respectively.
Let's say a table which will permit me to insert every student's name,class and all the five subjects and its class score and exams score

The primary key is the id and the values is what is in the datagridview
