You should write a webmethod or pagemethod and call that method using ajax or jquery.. u can not call a c#fucntion as a javascript function as you expected...

No.. use css to accomplish this.... by taking a div display none, and show that div with message when u want to show.. style that particular div like modal popup using only CSS.. hope this helps.

If you want to disable Linkbuttons(Select,Edit) for few users, write a itemdatabound event for the gridview and check the condition for which users buttons should be disabled.

check the solution.. wrap your updateprogress control inside a div with ID.. and register BeginRequestHandler event where u can get the control id which causes partial postback.. So check which control causes partial postback, if that is not button just hide the Div that wrapped your updateprogress control.. hope this helps.. :)

You can use Eval function in the Aspx page,But you might be getting a DataTable or DataReader object, loop through in the codebehind and bind it to the literal control like the following,

You can write SQL job or write one console application which just runs that Stored Procedure and schedule the exe of it using Administrative tools/Task scheduler option in your windows machine.
