I've seen a lot of websites that accept credit cards. Can I build a website that accepts cash too?

I know I would need to get some sort of special drive for the money, like at the banks. but where do I start?

I am working with C# mostly

You need this to website? Remote users? Start by buildin a Virtual Cash Acceptance Machine, but, think... only virtual money can be accept... Credit and Debit cards are the traditional virtual money... (or else... traditional payment gateways)
But, if you have a hardware to collect the money, the best start is

and/or your hardware manual.

None of the websites accept credit cards they just accept details of it. . They are meant to accept data and not tangible stuffs! quite crazy demand.

Think about this: some user in Timbuktu wants to buy one of your products so he makes a request through his web browser and goes to the checkout. Now, where does he put the cash to get it into your website?

I think you are thinking of donuts - I wish I could accept payments in those but do not think the boss will be happy ;)

This is not usable, CD drive is for CD only. The idea is the user will need to have specific hardware that accepts cash. If he doesn't have hardware he will need to get it, or use credit card option. But question: Where to get this kind of hardware, I cannot find it anywhere

CD drive is for CD only - you didn't notice that this was a joke then?
Read my answer again; what user is going to buy some special hardware just to use cash instead of credit card? And even if there is such a machine, how is the cash going to be transferred to you across the internet? Have you started at school yet?
