When we had news items that linked to other sites we used to frame those news items and offer a discussion board underneath. We decided a while ago that framing other sites is bad Karma and instead we send the viewer straight to the site.
When you try and view a message posted to a news item (ie during the framing era) you won't be able to see that message because you'll be immediately flung to the news item itself.
Nothing malicious, just a side effect of a change in policy.

Hi Sean
people complain daily about the broken links.
Can I do something, so that it get fixed earlyer? I do not understand, why the images seem to work with the relative link, but the code files don't. Was it because I used the new article editor of Codeproject?
Thanks,
Edgar

Often suggested to make a mandatory comment when downvoting or marking as spam/abusive.
Perhaps it is possible to at least encourage a comment perhaps via private message?
I'm not downvoted often, but when it happens I rarely realize why. Only when editing my post asking for the reason of the downvote some good soul steps up and explains why. (and often this is helpful)

Why would you want a mandatory comment for spam? If it's spam, nobody should be responding to it.
As for abusive, if the member is genuinely abusive, and they know who's reporting them, it will likely trigger a revenge down-voting spree.

I didn't say mandatory, I said encouraged...

In my experience for those of us that generally follow the rules. When we get downvoted it's by our peers, and they tend to tell us why. When we get downvoted by pondlife it doesn't really matter.

I think it useless - those are play fair will comment on such vote, but one playing around will not treat such message. I for myself getting 5-15 votes (abuse mostly) in every Sunday - what can I do!

I just tried changing my profile pic from a pixel stormtrooper to a picture of myself.
Whatever I do I keep seeing the stormtrooper, but below the picture in my settings it says "no picture".
However, if I go incognito I can see my new picture (and now also in my profile), but my settings still say stormtrooper and "no picture".
It's making me a little insecure...

I see your picture.
I think the most common response to "bugs" is "it's a caching issue."
There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

Nom! Nom! Nom! Nice cookies - was that while you were waiting?
I see you pic - I haven't had hair that long since the day of my wedding!

It maybe a cache problem on you side - I do see you (I wish I wouldn't )...

This is, unfortunately, a browser caching issue. When you update your profile pic the image name remains constant (for various reasons including: you may have links to it; it saves us worrying about cleaning up when you update; it seemed a good idea at the time). Hit Ctrl+F5 to see your new image.
Our cache headers are set with max-age = 0 so it should be showing you the latest image.
Are you using Chrome? It's notorious for holding onto old files.

I think I saw this pass by recently here but can't seem to find the post anymore.
Check in teamcity artifacts into TFS[^]
This question (of mine) is edited by '(no name)'.
It's not a big deal, I can still click on it and see who it was but just wanted to point it out.
I did see it on other (more recent) questions as well.
On a side node:
Is there any functionality to 'close' a question? That question is over 2 years old and has no longer any value to me (I no longer work at that job) and since it was never answered and I didn't find an answer myself I don't think the question has any value to the site either. (I could always delete it but that seems somewhat drastic)
If there isn't, should there be?
