Exactly. Had the same thought.
Might have been better if it was on some section on the right then it prolly wouldn't push down on things as it does now.

In the end, the money to run this platform has to come from somewhere. For me the flashing ad is no problem, usually I don't stay on the 'home' that long.
It does not solve my Problem, but it answers my question

Nor do I except for moderation - but it's a "landing site" for newbies so it needs to look "right" or the whole site comes over as "a bit crap". You've probably done it yourself - arrive at a site and decide immediately that there will be nothing you want there because it looks like it was assembled by a blind two year old.

The link was original link was incorrect
/Messages/NNNN/ will give you a list of messages for Member NNNN
/Messages/NNNN/<message title="" slug=""> will go to Message NNNN
It looks like OG truncated a part of the URL.

I suppose you wanted to answer me in the thread below. (You might move the messages if you want, so we don't hijack this thread
Matthew Dennis wrote: /Messages/NNNN/ will give you a list of messages for Member NNNN The point is... no, this is not correct.
Check with the link I used myself in the last or second last message. I am pointing to my own message, but The /Messages/NNNN gives still get a list from messages written by other people.

in the S&A two different users (@OriginalGriff and @Sandeep-Mewara) have reported the same user / message but with different styles.
OriginalGriff in Troll in the lounge? (Member 14935529)[^]
using the typical
<a href="https://www.codeproject.com/Messages/5748850/">Theb Lounge</a>[<a href="https://www.codeproject.com/Messages/5748850/" target="_blank" title="New Window">^</a>]
And Sandeep in Spammer in Lounge (Member 14935529, Lounge message)[^]
has used the markup version
[Latest Messages](https:
So I suppose both have used the "get permalink" in the same message. The weird thing is, that link brings you to a list of messages written by different users where some of the messages are even newer as the "permalinked" message (meaning, they were not even written yet, by the time that reported message was posted or reported)
I think this shouldn't happen.

To confirm that, the link in my message opens a valid CP URL:
https://www.codeproject.com/Messages/5748850/ Which opens the right page ID, but with the wrong info:
This is probably because once the message was closed I deleted it from the lounge, so the message finder can't any more!

I don't think we have any direct access to the DB, but I don't know exactly what the Hamsters do when we tell them to delete: they might move it to an "archive" table, or just mark it as deleted so it doesn't come up in "regular SELECT" operations. Or ... the row might just go in the bit bucket.
But ... if the message number specified doesn't exist in the "active" list, it seem to be returning recent messages instead of a "not found" message.

Nope... the problem is the link, literally.
A permalink usually contains domain/forum/msg=ID
i.e. my OP in this thread: https://www.codeproject.com/suggestions.aspx?msg=5748869#xx5748869xx
Bugs and Suggestions[^]
Your Links (both of you) have the link as domain/Messages/id
as it would be the "domain/Members/nickname" Link vs. the "domain/Membership/View.aspx?mid=Number"
If I try the same with my active and visible Thread-OP (meaning: https://www.codeproject.com/Messages/5748913) it happens exactly the same.
Latest Messages[^]
it gets to a of recent messages but from the whole site.
So I suppose that the parsing between the "easy" and the "complete" URL-Types is still needing a tiny push to work properly.
What I don't know... where did you get that type of link for the message? I get always the classic type.

I pasted it in, as usual.
I still think it's a closed message problem with pasting: If I copy a message link in the Lounge:
<a href="https://www.codeproject.com/Messages/5748896/delivery-org">The Lounge</a>[<a href="https://www.codeproject.com/Messages/5748896/delivery-org" target="_blank" title="New Window">^</a>]
The Lounge[^] it works.
If I manually remove the "summary" part:
<a href="https://www.codeproject.com/Messages/5748896/">The Lounge</a>[<a href="https://www.codeproject.com/Messages/5748896/" target="_blank" title="New Window">^</a>] The Lounge[^] it gives the same result - a list of messages.
Just guessing here, but if a message is closed, it doesn't have a "real subject" any longer, even if it still has a message ID?

Weird...
Members ID versus Members Name it depends on where I get it. The Who's Who list is nicknames (SAOTD), the preview of the messages or the newsfeed is with nicknames too. But if I click in other places I get the "Membership/ID" type.
But for the messages... every time I click on permalink, no matter where I use it, I get the "long / old" link with messages_ID
I have had to recreate the link type you are using manually.
Might the browser or "local" user settings interfere as well? I am mainly using FF for the last weeks
