There is something called Watched Forums. I am not aware how it works since I do not use it. But from the name it looks as if it might fit your need.

Not noticed that before but I'd still need extra clicks (like life is so short another click will really make a difference) whereas a box on the left, always open, would be really nice with links to forums or items of interest within CP settable as required.

How about creating a small application yourself? It would open the frequently visited forums tabbed in your favorite browser through just one click.

Yes, I could even do it by adding each forum as a separate link in my favorites and open as required but that's not the point: I think it might be a useful feature added here for everyone.

At that point, why not just have your browser apply some hacked CSS, etc to create a Favorite Forums subsection in the left sidebar.
Perhaps suggest it to Shog9 as a CPhog enhancement if Chris isn't interested.

Even that is not needed. If you are using FF, you can set multiple links as home page and they will open in tabs anytime you open FF. (Although it is not a real solution, but can be used if you browse few sites on a regular basis)

at home my browser has about 40 tabs holding sites I visit regularly and never close and a few more with large articles I'm keeping open as a reminder until I get around to reading them.

I suggested the same thing more than a year ago:
Clickety[^]
- and Chris told me it was added to the TODO list. It doesn't seem like they have done anything yet though.
It shouldn't take long to piece together.
Hopefully Chris will do something once he sees your post.

Oh, they've done stuff... just not that. I would guess it's a low priority.

It would be nice if an article author could easily convert an article to a tip (or vice-versa). The conversion process would bring along all votes and comments associated with the article (or tip).
It would also be nice if people that can edit can move articles/tips as well.

Aha. So we are getting a way to smuggle some graphics and download material into a tip after all.

A direct method of doing that is on the list too!

If you mouseover a post title, a slightly off-white bar a few pixels high appears at the bottom of the title row. It's hardly noticeable except when the post is expanded and the background is blue.
It doesn't happen in IE8, but it does in FF 3.6 and Chrome 4.

It's more than a little bar if the header is multiple lines.
If you looked back a few weeks you'd find this was a repost.

They say when you plotting your revenge you should dig two graves; one for your enemy, and one for yourself. I can tell you right now, when it comes to spammers, two graves just ain't enough.
