The issue here is that we set the level for people to avoid the spam tester too low - 600 points in some cases. This has been updated (you need Gold status now) so let's see how this goes instead of pushing the issue back onto manual user intervention as the primary guard.

I'd agree that it shouldn't be the first line of defence - the spam detector does a good job nearly all the time. But for days like yesterday when you can't feed the damn things to the detector fast enough, we do need a backup option to discourage them from further posting.
If we turn their efforts into a waste of time quickly enough, they will bugger off elsewhere (as we've seen today). And (no offence intended) they tend to be in a time zone when you are all having a well-deserved sleep. You've got a network of protectors in every time zone, so I'm just suggesting you give them a backup tool in the box to prevent floods.

I would add something to your feature...
It could be a "only protectors or higher" check box near the red flag to report an account... something like:
This user is a massive spammer, if closed, delete {all messages // messages younger than X days} related to this account
So we check the box first and then hit the report button. Combining the power of several small hits to make a big spam hammer as CP Staff's

This Member 14076414 - Professional Profile[^] posted 70 ++ questions. There should be a mechanism in place to prevent this replay attack from happening again in the future. Maybe include a reCaptcha control or limit the post or something.

Limiting number of question for just created member would be a good idea.

Good point, Specially newly joined should not be able to post more than 3 unresolved questions. Should have some level of recognition, such as activity like "Responding questions"

It's a bit of a balance here. If a thread gets removed then it's tricky to cherry pick the posts that should get credit and those that shouldn't. We specifically do not want to give credit for posts that are off-topic or abusive, and we don't want to encourage members to pile on comments on threads that shouldn't be there in the first place. A single "probably not the best place to post this" message is always appreciated, but then we get into lots of if-then messy logic and start second guessing everything.
So we've chosen the simple route, for better or worse.

In the message moderation queue we have a yellow highlight for links, to make them easier to see when they are hidden or disguised.
Would it be feasible to add that to article moderation?
The reason is that in a longish document it can be hard to spot a link - take a look at this one: Tips and tricks for navigating large codebases[^]
If you search for "great article" then the second hit is a link - but when reading the article it's not that obvious that it is. (In this case the link is pretty innocuous, it's just hard to see on a quick "is this spam?" overview read).
When they hide them in full stops it's even harder ... and we do get some people copy and paste a reasonable article from elsewhere to add their site links to.

Honestly, unless anyone's willing to go the other 99 yards to really affect any just cause,
such as providing non-transparent backgrounds in "colored" equations (which NOONE does like it was contractually not permitted) ... even speaking of yellow or this or that ... is never gonna help.

I just checked and the article / quick answer moderation has the same highlight system.
I guess what you're after is this to be implemented in the Pending Article page?

yes, just so the links "pop" more, and we can spot the spam more easily. We've been getting some where they copy a chunk of book or similar, and add semi-hidden links that are hard to see.

If I select the notifications list at the top (red box) and click "View all notifications", the list is displayed in ascending date order. So the first item is from January this year (yes I will purge the list), and the latest is on page 140.

After reporting an off-topic advert in the top bar, the message blocks the user drop-down menu:
